The Cancer Relay for Life is still in the early stages of the game. Jessica Daniels and Meaghan Sullivan just had their very first meeting at Becker College. There were only four people in attendance to support it.
The group definitely needs more volunteers and members to join. This is important business; it is for a good cause. If you know anyone who has fought cancer and died, or if you know of someone who is a survivor, the time is now to join this cause. Relay for Life will help benefit the cancer society. 40% of the profit goes directly to the Cancer Research Foundation.
Teams need to be formed; there are so many volunteer opportunities just ready to be assigned. There are ceremonies, which require someone who works well with others and can think outside the box. Entertainment & Activities is a position that requires the ability to organize and have fun! Volunteers who work on entertainment will secure inventive ideas to make the Relay For Life a “must-attend” event.
New Team Recruitment involves going into the community and trying to recruit teams that will participate in the Relay for Life. People who perform this task should have a good amount of knowledge about the relay and who have partaken in a relay before so they can give a personal perspective to potential teams.
One very popular volunteer idea to help promote awareness for this relay is Online Fundraising. This requires people who are computer savvy. Graphic design majors? Game design? We could most certainly use your talents here. This online fundraising is an easy way for people to donate money to this cause, because it’s more convenient and is a great way to keep up with everyone’s busy lives.
This is what’s happening. Now, we need all of you to help and make this relay a success! Once again, contact Jessica Daniels at Jessica.a.daniels.2007@mymail.becker.edu for more details.
